Suri Cruise Drops Father's Name for Mother's Middle

Suri Cruise, the daughter of actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has reportedly adopted her mother's middle name, Noelle, as her surname. This change was observed when Suri registered to vote in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in October 2024, under the name Suri Noelle. She was also listed as Suri Noelle in the program for her high school graduation from LaGuardia High School in June 2024.

This reported name change follows years of distance from Tom Cruise, particularly after Holmes was granted full custody in 2012. Cruise was ordered to pay substantial child support until Suri turned 18. Holmes has maintained a close public relationship with Suri, even collaborating on her films.

Suri's decision echoes that of other celebrity children. Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, recently filed to legally drop "Pitt" from her surname, opting for Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. Her siblings, Zahara and Maddox, are also in the process of changing their surnames. Shiloh Jolie, previously 20, had her name change to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie legally approved in August 2024.
