According to a recent interview, producer Ratan Jain has shared an explosive incident from the 1990s involving Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Jain, who worked with Khan on several major blockbusters of that era, including "Baazigar", "Baadshah", and "Yes Boss", recalled a tense situation that occurred during the making of "Yes Boss".
Jain explained that director Aziz Mirza was trying to finalize the cast for "Yes Boss", and at one point, Jain mentioned that if Shah Rukh did not want to do the film, they would consider casting Saif Ali Khan instead. This slip of the tongue from Jain enraged the superstar, who immediately called the producer late at night to express his anger.
Shah Rukh first lashed out at Jain's associate Hari Singh, hurling abuses, before directly confronting the producer. "You are replacing me with Saif?" Khan demanded, clearly furious at the prospect. Jain tried to explain that it was just a casual remark, but Shah Rukh was unyielding, stating, "It doesn't work that way. What's in your mind, you said it."

The confrontation escalated, with Shah Rukh threatening to complete his work on Jain's film "Baadshah" and then refuse to collaborate with the producer again. Even days later, when they met in person, the superstar was still visibly upset. However, Jain eventually apologized, acknowledging his mistake, and the two were able to reconcile.
"Yes Boss" went on to become a major hit, cementing Shah Rukh Khan's status as one of Bollywood's biggest stars in the 1990s. This incident, however, serves as a reminder of the high-stakes tensions that can sometimes arise in the film industry, even between long-time collaborators.
