The latest episode of The Rookie, titled "Survive the Streets," featured a surprising documentary-style segment that included a cameo from Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. The plot revolved around a retired LAPD officer who died by suicide, believing he was possessed by a demon.
Padalecki and Ackles, appearing as themselves on a Zoom call, were interviewed due to their extensive experience portraying demon hunters on Supernatural. They recalled meeting the officer at a convention, where he expressed an intense interest in a Supernatural episode featuring the demon Malaphus. The actors clarified that demon hunting was fictional, a detail that added a unique layer to the episode.
This unexpected crossover marks a fun nod to Supernatural, which concluded its run five years ago. The appearance comes ahead of Padalecki and Ackles' upcoming reunion in the fifth season of The Boys. The Rookie, meanwhile, is nearing the end of its current season, with potential for more surprises.
