Sunny Deol recently discussed a significant disagreement stemming from the 1993 film Darr, which involved his co-star Shah Rukh Khan. Deol disclosed that he maintained silence with Khan for 16 years after the movie's release, attributing this estrangement to creative differences. He elaborated on his objections to the film's climax, where his naval commando character was depicted as being easily overpowered and stabbed by Khan's antagonist character. Deol felt this undermined his character's credibility for the sake of the villain's portrayal.

During a heated discussion about this climax scene with director Yash Chopra, Deol became so incensed that he inadvertently ripped his own jeans while trying to control his temper. He humorously recalled the incident, noting it stemmed from intense frustration rather than professional insecurity, which he acknowledged can strain relationships in Bollywood. Deol further clarified that relationships among top actors are typically professional, viewing them more as colleagues than close friends, emphasizing that true friendship is a much deeper connection.
