Deol & Santoshi Reunite After 3 Decades for Partition Epic

Actor Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi mark a significant reunion after nearly 30 years with the upcoming film 'Batwara 1947'. The movie, backed by Aamir Khan Productions, is set during the intensely turbulent period of the 1947 Partition, depicting a family's struggle with violence and displacement.

Deol shared his seamless creative synergy with Santoshi, likening their collaboration to previous successful films like 'Ghayal' and 'Damini'. He expressed his pleasure in working with Shabana Azmi for the first time, noting their on-screen relationship evoked a profound mother-son dynamic.

The film, which also features Preity Zinta and Karan Deol, is dedicated by Deol to his mother and mothers globally. "Don't divide a mother into Hindu or Muslim. A mother is a religion in herself," reads a powerful line from the trailer, highlighting the film's theme of universal compassion amidst conflict.

With music by AR Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar, 'Batwara 1947' is scheduled for a worldwide release in cinemas on August 14. The trailer emphasizes humanity and resilience in the face of the subcontinent's historical upheaval.
