Veteran actor Sunny Deol has confirmed his casting as Lord Hanuman in director Nitesh Tiwari's highly anticipated Ramayana film. Deol made a surprise appearance at the movie's trailer launch event in New Delhi, where he shared his thoughts on portraying the iconic deity.
Deol, who is 68 years old, stated that he has only commenced work on the role and has significant portions left to film. He described the opportunity to play Lord Hanuman as one of the greatest honors of his career, acknowledging the immense cultural importance of the Ramayana in India.
"The Ramayana is one of the greatest treasures of India and its people," Deol remarked, expressing gratitude for the chance to embody Hanuman. He promised to give his utmost effort to portray the character accurately, noting Hanuman's multifaceted nature as playful, innocent, powerful, and a devoted follower of Lord Ram.
The film's ensemble cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The epic is scheduled to be released in two parts, with the first part due on Diwali 2026 and the second on Diwali 2027.
