Veteran actor Sunil Thapa passed away in Kathmandu at the age of 68 due to a cardiac arrest. His extensive career, spanning over four decades, saw him contribute significantly to Nepali, Bollywood, and Bhojpuri cinema.
Thapa was particularly recognized for his villainous roles in Nepali films, notably as Rate Kaila in the iconic 1991 movie Chino. He also gained international acclaim for his performance as coach Narjit Singh in the 2014 film Mary Kom, starring opposite Priyanka Chopra.
His filmography includes over 300 Nepali films, and he began his career as a model in Mumbai. Thapa's recent appearances included a role in The Family Man Season 3. He was a recipient of the Motion Pictures Award Nepal twice and chaired Everest Film Academy.
