Summary
- Suniel Shetty defended Ranveer Singh against calls for a ban.
- Ranveer Singh reportedly generated Rs 3,500 crore in revenue.
- FWICE directive against Ranveer Singh was withdrawn after mediation.

Actor Suniel Shetty has voiced strong support for Ranveer Singh concerning the ongoing Don 3 controversy. Shetty questioned the calls to ban Singh, emphasizing the actor's substantial contribution to the Hindi film industry, estimated at Rs 3,500 crore in revenue. He argued that banning an artist popular with the public is counterproductive.
Shetty dismissed the notion that any entity could ban an actor or art, stating that such matters would be quickly dismissed by the Supreme Court. The dispute arose from reports of Ranveer Singh's exit from Farhan Akhtar's Don 3, which led to a debate on contracts and creative freedom. Excel Entertainment reportedly sought Rs 45 crore from Singh for pre-production costs.
The situation intensified when the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Singh. However, the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) mediated, leading to FWICE withdrawing its directive. Shetty expressed confidence that dialogue between Singh and Akhtar would resolve their differences.
