This move marks a significant shift for the event, which was founded by Robert Redford in 1978.
The 2026 festival, currently underway from January 22 to February 1, 2026, in Park City and Salt Lake City, features a diverse lineup. It includes 90 feature-length films from 28 countries and territories, with 40% of the directors being first-time feature filmmakers. The opening film, 'Turner,' directed by Daniel Roher, premiered on Day 1, starring Dustin Hoffman.
Numerous other premieres are scheduled, highlighting a wide array of cinematic talent. The festival also recognizes emerging talent and supported 14 selected projects through its development programs. Awards will be presented on January 30, celebrating excellence in filmmaking across various competitive categories. Andrew Stanton's 'In The Blink of An Eye' received the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize.
