The animated adventure-comedy series "Sun Chaser" is set to launch its pilot episode at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, scheduled for June 21-27 in Annecy, France. This series, a creation of Bobby Pontillas and Bernard Badion, boasts an entirely Filipino artistic team.
"Sun Chaser" chronicles the journey of Jordan Santos, voiced by Manny Jacinto, a self-absorbed teenager whose summer is disrupted by an ancient villain's attack on his grandmother's island in the Philippines. Jordan is compelled to protect his younger cousins and embarks on a quest aboard the legendary Sun Chaser vessel.
The narrative unfolds as Jordan and his crew navigate mythical seas and extraordinary islands. Their mission is to rescue his grandmother and safeguard the island, forcing Jordan to transition from a reluctant youth to a capable leader. Liza Soberano, Eugene Cordero, and JR De Guzman are also part of the voice cast.
Previously honored with Animation du Monde at the 2025 festival, "Sun Chaser" is produced by Miguel Del Rosario and Marlyn Montano. Animation is handled by Toon City and PlayLab studios in the Philippines, with Liza Soberano's Funny Face Films co-producing.
