Young Composer's Nature-Inspired Track Goes Viral

Composer-producer Sumedh K, at 21, is establishing a notable presence in the Kannada music industry while continuing his higher education. His independently produced track, 'Tulasi', has recently gained significant traction on social media, praised for its immersive sound and compelling visuals. This success follows his contribution to the Kannada film 'Su from So' last year, highlighting his ability to navigate both independent and mainstream music spheres.

Sumedh K's signature musical style is an organic outcome of his diverse influences, including tabla, Carnatic, and Hindustani vocals, alongside self-taught production skills. He emphasizes that his unique sound isn't consciously crafted but emerges from his conceptual, process-driven approach to music creation. Currently in his third year of a Bachelor of Design program, Sumedh prioritizes maintaining a balance to avoid burnout, indicating a thoughtful pacing of his career.

His entry into film music was facilitated by social media, leading to a collaboration with director Raj Shetty after he posted his track 'Daha.' Sumedh observes that independent music offers greater creative freedom compared to the narrative-bound nature of film scoring. He views technology, including auto-tune, as a tool that can enhance music when it serves the artistic idea, stating that music and technology are intrinsically linked in modern production.
