In the upcoming Netflix animated feature "In Your Dreams," suburban children Stevie and Elliot discover a magical book that transports them into a fantastical dream world. The film, which is the directorial debut of Alex Woo, blends imaginative visuals with a relatable family drama at its core.
Woo, who previously worked at Pixar and Lucasfilm, left the studio in 2016 to co-found his own company Kuku Studios. Drawing from his own childhood experiences of his parents' brief separation, Woo crafted a story about the siblings' quest to find the legendary Sandman and secure a wish that could save their parents' marriage. As the children explore the vibrant dream realm, filled with talking breakfast foods and a giant sand castle, they are driven by the very real emotional stakes of their family's struggles.
