Kino Lorber has acquired the U.S. digital, educational, and home video distribution rights for Robinson Devor's documentary "Suburban Fury." The film, which won Best Documentary at the Seattle Film Festival, offers an in-depth examination of Sara Jane Moore, the individual who fired two shots at President Gerald Ford in San Francisco on September 22, 1975.
The documentary features extensive interviews with Moore, conducted when she was in her eighties, following her release after serving 32 years for the assassination attempt. Director Robinson Devor described the interview process as combative at times, highlighting Moore's tenacity in expressing her opinions. The film explores Moore's shift from a conservative housewife to a radicalized figure intent on eliminating the president.
"Suburban Fury" also touches upon Moore's entanglement with Patty Hearst and the Symbionese Liberation Army, her time as an FBI informant, and prior investigations by the Secret Service. The documentary, which premiered at the 2024 New York Film Festival, was produced by Robinson Devor, Jason Reid, and Zachariah Sebastian. Moore died on September 24, 2005, at the age of 95.
