Styx's Tommy Shaw recently shared his thoughts on the band's upcoming performances at The Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas, where they will focus on their 1978 album, "Pieces of Eight." Shaw expressed initial surprise that his bandmates selected this particular album, which faced criticism upon its release but achieved significant commercial success, selling over 3 million copies and charting at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.
The band's Las Vegas shows, scheduled from January 23-31, 2025, will feature a full performance of "Pieces of Eight," followed by a selection of their well-known hits. Shaw noted that the band's current lineup, including James "J.Y." Young, Todd Sucherman, Lawrence Gowan, Will Evankovich, and Terry Gowan, with original member Chuck Panozzo making appearances, maintains a strong sense of joy and camaraderie.
Looking ahead, Styx is set to embark on a two-month amphitheater tour with Chicago this summer. Shaw also offered insights into life on the road, mentioning his preference for sleeping on tour buses and his specific comfort needs, such as a preferred room temperature and personal bedding. He emphasized the band's focus on positive interactions and shared enjoyment, which contributes to their enduring appeal and desire to continue performing.
