Detective Cormoran Strike is back for his seventh series, with actor Tom Burke returning to his gritty detective roots after a Hollywood stint. This new installment sees Strike and his associate Robin Ellacott investigating the Universal Humanitarian Church (UHC), a dangerous cult operating in Norfolk. The UHC is led by the charismatic Jonathan Wace.
The investigation begins when a concerned father hires Strike and Robin to locate his son, Will, who has joined the cult. Robin bravely goes undercover, posing as a follower at Chapman Farm, the cult's former commune headquarters, to gather intelligence on their operations. Meanwhile, Strike delves into the organization's unsettling history.
As Robin infiltrates the UHC, she uncovers disturbing criminal activities, including abuse, starvation, and murder. Tom Burke also shared insights into his professional relationship with co-star Holliday Grainger, describing their bond as continuously 'blossoming' and noting that she makes him laugh. He contrasted his Hollywood experience with the Strike set, finding freedom and bravery in both.
