One Show host Angela Scanlon has reportedly held recent meetings with BBC executives about potentially co-hosting Strictly Come Dancing. The popular broadcaster is considered a strong contender to replace outgoing presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who departed at the end of last year. Sources suggest the BBC is prioritizing candidates with prior experience on the show, a trait Scanlon demonstrated as a contestant in 2023.

Scanlon's existing relationship with the BBC, where she has been nurtured as talent, is also seen as an advantage. The broadcaster is also keen to have a presenter with a regional accent, a box Scanlon, from County Meath, Ireland, would tick. Chemistry tests are anticipated to take place following Easter as part of the selection process.

While other names like Zoe Ball and Alex Jones have been considered, their interest in the role is reportedly lukewarm.
