- Akshay Kumar is expected to return in a significant role in Stree 3.

The horror-comedy franchise Stree 3 has been rescheduled for a 2028 release, a delay from its initial August 13, 2027 target. This shift allows director Amar Kaushik to complete 'Mahavatar,' a film producer Dinesh Vijan calls Maddock Films' most ambitious project to date, based on the story of Bhagwan Parshuram. Kaushik will commence shooting 'Mahavatar' in late January and conclude by June, before beginning work on Stree 3 later in 2027, pushing its release into 2028.
Producer Dinesh Vijan has cautioned audiences to anticipate a completely different narrative direction for Stree 3, stating that the script is finalized but its beginning and end will be a revelation. While the specific release date in 2028 remains unconfirmed, Vijan suggested it could be a holiday release. Actor Rajkummar Rao reflected on the franchise's journey from a small independent film to a major box-office success, with Stree 2 grossing Rs 857 crore worldwide.
Akshay Kumar, who made a notable appearance in Stree 2, is expected to return for Stree 3 in a role Vijan has likened to Thanos in Marvel films, indicating a significant part in the interconnected horror-comedy universe. The franchise's beloved elements will remain, promising audiences a familiar yet surprising experience.
