Strangers Perform Unrehearsed Intimate Scenes in Daring Live Theater Experiment

In an unconventional theatrical experiment, a new play called "Good Sex" is pairing unacquainted actors to perform live intimate scenes on stage. The production, which runs from November 5th to November 8th, 2025 at the Powerhouse Arts in Brooklyn, challenges performers to navigate the complexities of simulating sex in front of an audience without any prior rehearsal.

To ensure the safety and comfort of the actors, each performance will feature an intimacy coordinator - a growing role in the entertainment industry designed to guide performers through the technical and emotional aspects of portraying sex scenes. The rotating cast includes several high-profile stars, such as Elliot Page, Morgan Spector, Constance Wu, Brandon Flynn, and Chris Perfetti, who will be tasked with telling "a story of desire, betrayal and loneliness" as complete strangers.

Born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, when physical touch became a "transgressive act," the play is described as a "love story for a loveless age." The unconventional production was first staged in 2022 as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival and is now making its way to New York as part of the Powerhouse: International arts festival.
