David Harbour, known for his role as Jim Hopper, expressed his personal interpretation of the Stranger Things series finale. He stated his belief that the character Eleven may have died, despite the ambiguous ending presented on Netflix on December 31. Harbour conveyed this opinion at the Gotham TV Awards on June 1, acknowledging that it might disappoint fans.

However, the finale also offered an alternative perspective through Mike Wheeler. He suggested that the image of Eleven in the rift could have been merely a vision. Mike theorized that Eleven might have actually survived, escaping to live a quiet life away from conflict, a scenario plausible due to the military's technology influencing her abilities.
