Summary
- The Broadway production of 'Stranger Things: The First Shadow' is being filmed.
- Filming caused temporary cancellation of performances from Feb. 10-14.
- The show resumed its schedule on Feb. 15 with a new cast.

Netflix is capturing the Broadway production of "Stranger Things: The First Shadow" on film this week for an upcoming streaming release. Performances were suspended from February 10th through February 14th to facilitate the filming process. The show is set to resume its regular schedule on February 15th.
The production, which debuted on Broadway in April 2025 after its West End opening in December 2023, has experienced a surge in audience interest. This boost has been attributed partly to the release of the final season of the "Stranger Things" television series.
In late March, a new cast will step into the roles, including Victor de Paula Rocha as Henry Creel. The play, written by Kate Trefry and based on an original story by the Duffer Brothers, Jack Thorne, and Trefry, serves as a prequel rooted in the "Stranger Things" mythology.
Set in 1959 Hawkins, Indiana, the story follows a teenage Henry Creel as his family moves to town. As strange events unfold, Henry begins to confront a potential connection to the growing darkness. The production delves into the early lives of well-known characters and establishes connections to the main series.
Directed by Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, the stage production employs a cast of 34 and utilizes advanced stagecraft blending practical effects with cinematic presentation. The Duffer Brothers are involved as creative producers, with Shawn Levy's 21 Laps Entertainment serving as associate producer. A documentary about the making of the show, "Behind the Curtain: Stranger Things: The First Shadow," was released in April 2025.
