On November 15th, 2025, Stoke-on-Trent, the renowned center of the UK's ceramics industry, will be celebrating its centenary with a special Ceramic Makers' Market at the Gladstone Pottery Museum. More than 60 ceramic artists from across the country are set to participate in this event, showcasing their exceptional talents and diverse creations.
The market will feature a wide array of ceramic pieces, including functional tableware, decorative tiles, sculptural works, and studio art. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the artists, many of whom are local favorites and familiar faces from the popular TV show "The Great Pottery Throw Down." Past contestants, such as Jonathan Jolly and Dan Sandham, will be among those presenting their latest works.
The Ceramic Makers' Market is part of a broader program celebrating Stoke-on-Trent's rich ceramic heritage, both past and present. Other highlights include the Legacy and Continuity: International Ceramic Symposium, a free two-day event taking place at the Stoke Town Hall and Spode Museum on November 21st and 22nd.
According to Stoke-on-Trent Council Leader Jane Ashworth, the market at the Gladstone Pottery Museum provides "a chance to enjoy our heritage" and meet the talented artists who continue to shape the city's reputation as a center for ceramic excellence. She emphasizes that the event showcases the "skill, creativity and innovation" that have long defined Stoke-on-Trent's ceramic industry.
