Photographer Adam Parkin presents "SIRF's Up 2026: 20 Years Photographing the Festival" at ARC Stockton Arts Centre, running until August 8. The exhibition features his work from the last two decades, capturing the Stockton International Riverside Festival.
Parkin, a Stockton native, has a lifelong connection to the festival, attending since 1991, shortly before his birth. His photography aims to capture "the moment" from the public's viewpoint, a continuation of his long-standing presence at the event.
The 34-year-old's exhibition builds on his previous show from a decade ago, which covered the festival's first 10 years. This update reflects the evolving theatre, dance, music, and art acts that grace Stockton.
Inspired by a youth program that provided disposable cameras, Parkin developed his passion for documenting the festival. He has also served as a visitor experience ambassador since 2014, contributing to the festival's success, excluding pandemic cancellations.
This year's 39th SIRF runs from July 31 to August 2. Parkin hopes his exhibition will evoke memories for regulars and showcase Stockton in a positive light for new visitors, highlighting the town's proud international festival spirit.
