Stockard Channing Calls Grease Caricature a Nightmare

Stockard Channing, 82, has expressed her strong negative feelings about the caricature featured in the opening credits of the 1978 film Grease. In a recent interview, the actress described the drawing as an "unfortunate" representation and admitted it was her "nightmare vision of self." Channing revealed that she has only watched the beloved movie, which also stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, a mere two times since its initial premiere.

Channing's comments come as she promotes her upcoming film, Practical Magic 2, where she reprises her role as Frances "Franny" Owens. The actress also recently shared details about her quieter life, explaining that she moved from Maine to London alone "just before Covid" following the devastating loss of her partner, Daniel Gillham, in 2014. She stated, "I've lived alone since I lost Daniel and I'm happy being a recluse."
