Summary
- Buckingham Nicks album reissued after decades out of print
- "Crystal" recorded 3 times, each representing a different era of Stevie and Lindsey's relationship
- Nicks wants to record "Crystal" again for Practical Magic sequel

As of October 2025, Stevie Nicks' iconic song "Crystal" is once again capturing the spotlight. Last month, the Buckingham Nicks album, which features the first recording of "Crystal," was reissued after being out of print for decades, giving fans a renewed appreciation for the track.
"Crystal" has a rich history, having been recorded three times over the years. The first version, sung by Lindsey Buckingham, appeared on the Buckingham Nicks album in 1973, before the couple joined Fleetwood Mac. In 1975, Nicks and Buckingham reprised the song for Fleetwood Mac's self-titled album, delivering a more polished, pop-infused rendition. Finally, Nicks recorded the song again for the 1998 film Practical Magic, with Sheryl Crow producing.
Now, with a Practical Magic sequel in the works, Nicks is eager to revisit "Crystal" once more. "It's funny, because 'Crystal' was recorded three times," she said last year. "Maybe we should record it for a fourth time. I definitely think they should let me be a part of the music."
The song's enduring appeal lies in its ability to capture the ups and downs of Nicks and Buckingham's relationship over the years. Lyrics like "And I have changed, oh, but you, you remain ageless" and "The love that had finally, finally found me" resonate deeply, especially given the tumultuous history between the two musicians. Fleetwood Mac only performed "Crystal" in 1975 and 1976, and there's no known record of Nicks ever performing it solo, adding to the song's mystique.
