Steve Perry has definitively ended speculation about a potential reunion with Journey during their farewell tour. In a recent social media post, Perry clarified that rumors of him rejoining the band are false, gently putting them to rest.
Keyboardist Jonathan Cain had previously suggested in an interview that Perry might make a surprise appearance at one of the tour's 100 shows, stating Perry was "thinking about it" and had not said no. However, Perry's statement confirms his lack of inclination to reunite with the group since his departure in 1998.
Perry indicated he is currently focused on new creative work and enjoying the process of making new music that reflects his present artistic direction. He expressed gratitude for the fans' continuous support over the years, assuring them their loyalty has been noticed and is deeply appreciated.
Separately, confusion arose regarding current singer Arnel Pineda's social media post addressing drummer Deen Castronovo. Additionally, guitarist Neal Schon had to clarify comments about Jonathan Cain's future involvement, confirming Cain would continue playing until the end of the planned 2026-2027 tours before pursuing ministry.
The farewell tour, initially announcing 60 dates through July 2026, is expected to extend with more dates next year. Cain, married to minister Paula White and planning a Christian music EP, downplayed ongoing court disputes with Schon, emphasizing their ability to deliver music when collaborating as Journey.
