Text War Erupts in Steve Burton Custody Battle

New details have emerged in the custody battle between actor Steve Burton and his ex-wife, Sheree Amador, concerning their 11-year-old daughter, Brooklyn. Alleged text messages between the two, reportedly submitted as evidence in court, highlight a significant disagreement over Brooklyn's summer activities.

Burton, who splits his time between California and Tennessee, allegedly opposed Brooklyn's enrollment in a summer program in California. The texts suggest Burton accused Amador of manipulating their daughter and violating a court order by prioritizing activities over family time. He reportedly stated that Amador had told Brooklyn that her father wouldn't allow her to participate in the summer plans.

Amador's alleged response indicated her daughter's desire to participate in "jr guards" and emphasized that Brooklyn's life and activities are primarily based in California. She reportedly expressed willingness to work with Burton but stated Brooklyn's choices should not be limited due to his insistence on her being in Tennessee. She concluded by stating it was not right or fair to their daughter and she was done discussing the matter.

TMZ reported Burton's subsequent reply, claiming Amador had never been willing to cooperate, which led to their court involvement. Burton and Amador separated in 2022 and finalized their divorce agreement in 2023. Burton had previously announced a break from 'General Hospital' in February 2025 to spend time with his family following his marriage in May 2025.
