Colbert to Voice Digital Dean in Paramount+ Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

On October 11, 2025, during a Star Trek universe panel, Stephen Colbert made a virtual appearance to share exciting news about his involvement in the upcoming Paramount+ series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. The Late Show host revealed that he will be voicing the role of the Digital Dean of Students in the new spin-off.

In his video message, Colbert joked about not being able to attend the panel in person due to a lack of "bunting for [his] Mugato cosplay." However, he expressed his thrill at joining the Star Trek universe, which he has loved for a long time. Unlike his on-camera castmates, Colbert will not have to spend hours in hair and makeup every day for his role.

The panel also unveiled the new trailer for Starfleet Academy, which introduces viewers to a young group of cadets pursuing their common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, the cadets will discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves, and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.

Starfleet Academy is set to premiere the first two episodes on Paramount+ on January 15, 2026, with new episodes available to stream every Thursday. The season finale is scheduled for March 12, 2026.
