The State Lalit Kala Akademi celebrated its 65th foundation day, marking the occasion with engaging art exhibitions and a prize distribution ceremony that concluded on Monday. The event showcased a wide array of artistic talent, featuring 12 stalls where students from art departments of various colleges across Uttar Pradesh displayed their creations. These exhibits encompassed a broad spectrum of art forms, including abstract paintings, murals, Lippan art, mandala, printmaking, and terracotta items, with many pieces available for sale.
A concurrent painting exhibition highlighted the works of artists from all over the state, offering glimpses into their creative expressions. One featured artist, Dilenoor Fatima, presented a piece depicting Lord Buddha in the 'Abhay mudra,' while Anushka Sahni displayed a Kerala mural painting. During a live portrait-making demonstration, artist Vasudev Kamat shared valuable advice for young artists, stressing the importance of daily practice and direct observation over reliance on social media references.
The festivities also included competitions in painting, Kalash decoration, and clay modelling. Vivekanand Rajak emerged victorious in the painting competition, Annapurna Verma secured the first position in Kalash decoration, and Shraddha Tiwari won in the clay modelling category, concluding the celebrations on a high note.
