Texas Rodeo Legacy Fuels New Series

Starz has commissioned a new one-hour family drama set in the vibrant world of Black rodeo in Southeast Texas. The premium cable network has ordered eight episodes of the series, which marks its second wholly owned production since its spin-off from Lionsgate in 2025. The drama promises a compelling narrative centered on three siblings in Southeast Texas, where rodeo is more than a sport – it's a way of life.

These siblings are united by the formidable legacy their mother established and the unresolved issues left behind by their father. The series will navigate shifting alliances and tangled relationships as the siblings pursue their individual ambitions while being drawn into each other's orbits. This narrative, described as having "hip hop swagger and country soul," will unfold against the backdrop of a region where rodeo is deeply ingrained in its identity.

Kathryn Busby, president of original programming at Starz, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its "messy family dynamics, jaw-dropping spectacle and an undeniable swagger." She emphasized the network's pride in owning such bold, original storytelling from its inception. Kirk A. Moore is set to serve as showrunner and executive producer, with significant support from Gran Via Productions and Counterpart Studios.
