Summary
- Starz and Alliance of Women Directors created a new program.
- The initiative aims to advance women and gender-expansive directors.
- Applications for the Creative Leadership Lab open later this month.

Starz and the Alliance of Women Directors have partnered to introduce the Creative Leadership Lab, a new four-week program aimed at empowering women and gender-expansive directors.
This initiative specifically supports filmmakers who have secured initial episodic directing opportunities but are looking to establish themselves as consistent hires in the industry. The program will equip them with essential leadership development, mentorship, and professional tools. This is designed to foster sustainable careers within television directing.
The Creative Leadership Lab is a key component of Starz's broader #TakeTheLead commitment, which focuses on highlighting stories and talent from women and underrepresented groups both on and off-screen.
Selected participants, chosen by the Alliance of Women Directors through an independent evaluation, must have experience directing an episode of television, an independent feature, or significant short-form projects. They should also exhibit a strong creative vision and readiness for leadership roles.
The program will offer training to enhance communication skills, on-set authority, and other crucial aspects of navigating episodic television production. Additionally, a public panel will be hosted by Starz during the Alliance of Women Directors' "Back to Set" directing intensive.
Aspiring participants can anticipate application details to be released later this month, with further information available on the Alliance of Women Directors' website. This announcement coincides with Women's History Month and precedes International Women's Day on March 8.
