Starz has acquired the rights to the BBC series 'The Listeners,' which stars Rebecca Hall. The series, produced by Element Pictures, is adapted from Jordan Tannahill's novel and directed by Janicza Bravo.
It centers on Claire, portrayed by Hall, an English teacher whose life is upended when she starts hearing a pervasive humming sound that others cannot detect. This phenomenon creates significant tension within her family, particularly with her husband and daughter.
Her isolation eases slightly when she discovers a student, Kyle, can also hear the mysterious noise, leading to an intimate friendship between them. The series, which aired on the BBC over a year ago, underscores the continued demand for British programming in the U.S. market.
Alison Hoffman of Starz Networks stated that 'The Listeners' draws viewers in with its unique mystery and provokes thought on how society perceives women's experiences. Starz is proud to bring this critically acclaimed psychological thriller to American audiences, enhancing its premium programming for women.
