Summary
- Percussionist and producer combine acoustic and electronic sounds.
- Album commissioned for a specific studio in Los Angeles.
- Musicians blend techno, jazz, hip-hop, and dubstep elements.

Percussionist Booker Stardrum and producer Evan Shornstein have released their first collaborative full-length album, titled "OOPS!". The record is characterized by its playful disorientation, skillfully blending acoustic instruments with warped electronic textures. Both artists are agile improvisers known for their genre-agnostic approach, drawing inspiration from diverse musical styles.
This new album, commissioned for the Duets series on Spencer Zahn's label Sudden Quarterly, expands upon their previous work. Stardrum, a precise percussionist, and Shornstein, a master synthesist, recorded the album over a week in November 2025 at Zahn's Sudden Quarterly Studios in Los Angeles.
The duo pours elements from techno, jazz, hip-hop, and dubstep into their compositions. Stardrum primarily handles drums and percussion, while Shornstein focuses on synths and piano. Their creative process involves charting unknown sonic paths, consistently leading to surprising and unexpected results on each track.
