Outside the memorial service for their former captain, Donald Cragen, Stabler and Benson engaged in an emotional conversation. Stabler agreed, adding, "It's the worst era. Not that you can go back, and not that I'd want to, but we had a pretty good run there for a minute."

This is not the first time Stabler has expressed his feelings for Benson.
