Tushar Hiranandani's directorial venture, Srikanth, has been honored with the National Award for Best Hindi Feature Film at the 72nd National Film Awards. The film, which stars Rajkummar Rao, achieved both critical acclaim and significant box office success, grossing over Rs. 50 crores. Director Hiranandani recently attended the ceremony in Ekta Nagar to accept the award from the President of India.
Reflecting on the film's journey, Hiranandani mentioned that the production faced challenges, including adapting the shooting schedule due to the post-Covid environment. Initially planned for 65 days, the shoot was condensed to 42 days. A clever strategy was employed to overcome travel restrictions, with scenes intended for the USA being filmed in South Africa.
To create an authentic American feel, a distinctive yellow cab was shipped from New York to Cape Town, fooling many viewers into believing the scenes were shot in America. Hiranandani also emphasized his commitment to efficient filmmaking, noting that wasted time on set translates to wasted money. He aims to continue producing inspiring films with his company, Chalk N Cheese Films, ensuring they are always well-conceived.
