Singaporean studio Edenstone has launched "Spore Fall," a pioneering microdrama series that merges human creativity with artificial intelligence. This innovative project utilizes human-authored scripts and narratives brought to life through AI-generated visuals, specifically designed for a global mobile-first audience. Episodes are kept concise, running under three minutes each.
The narrative unfolds in the fictional city of Lionara, focusing on a soldier and a medic who must cooperate. Their alliance is forced by a man who develops unusual abilities following an infected outbreak, potentially altering human evolution. This plot is set against a backdrop of a suppressed spore pathogen crisis, managed by an authoritarian regime.
Creator Joel Boh stated the series aims to prove Singapore can compete internationally without major studio backing, with AI serving as a catalyst for creative possibilities. Executive Producer Chan Gin Kai, a Golden Horse Award winner, is leading a capital raise for the "Spore Fall" franchise, intending to expand into feature films, games, and collectibles.
Chan emphasized the project's commitment to keeping storytelling human while leveraging AI to scale imagination. "Spore Fall" will be available free-to-view across multiple platforms, including its own website, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, from March to June. A feature film is anticipated in 2028, followed by a novel, games, and Web3 collectibles.
