Chris LaMartina, known for "WNUF Halloween Special," is releasing a new experimental film titled "Spirit Tasting." This New Year's Eve-themed project from Terror Vision Original Productions is described as a post-punk interpretation of "The Monkey's Paw." The narrative centers on three former punks who gather at a distillery on New Year's Eve to honor their late bandmate.
At the Red Bat Distillery, a peculiar sommelier offers them a special tasting, with each exquisite bottle requiring a wish. However, their desires rapidly spiral into doom, revealing that every drink comes with a perilous cost. The film also features notable genre actors and cameos from figures like Grady Hendrix and Henry Zebrowski.
Directed and edited by LaMartina, who also co-wrote the script with Michael Varrati, the project was produced with a swift four-day shoot and a budget of $40,000. This approach mirrors B-movie icon Roger Corman and was timed to coincide with LaMartina's 40th birthday. A holiday roadshow tour is planned nationwide from November to early January, followed by a Blu-ray release.
