Animator for 'Spider-Verse' Dies at Annecy Festival

Luis de la Rosa, a celebrated Mexican animator with credits on "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," "Space Jam: A New Legacy," and "My Little Pony: The Movie," died tragically on Wednesday. He was 34 years old and had been attending the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France at the time of his passing.
Reports indicate that de la Rosa was struck by a train on Wednesday near Annecy. Despite emergency services being called to the scene, his life could not be saved. The victim was identified via social media, having been wearing festival accreditation.
Festival organizers have confirmed the heartbreaking news. Marcel, the Artistic Director of Annecy, is expected to pay tribute to de la Rosa, who also worked under the name Luis de la Rosa Obregón, during the festival's closing ceremony this Sunday.
Born and raised in Mexico, de la Rosa pursued his passion for animation at the Vancouver Film School, graduating with honors. He was based in Vancouver at the time of his death.
