Spider-Man Dominates China Box Office Again

Sony's "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" continued its box office success in mainland China, holding the top position for the second consecutive weekend from Aug. 7-9. The film garnered an additional RMB196.6 million ($28.9 million), bringing its total gross to $185.4 million since its July 29 debut.
Pearl Studio's animated fantasy, "All Wishes Come True!", maintained its strong performance, taking second place with $20.4 million in its fourth weekend. The local hit has now reached a cumulative total of $210.6 million. "Once Upon a Time in the Middle East" debuted strongly in third place with $15 million from preview screenings, ahead of its official Aug. 11 release.
Enlight Pictures' animated fantasy "To Your Island" opened in fourth with $7.9 million, and Universal's "The Odyssey" secured fifth place with $6.9 million from previews. Mainland China's overall weekend box office reached $97.3 million, contributing to a year-to-date revenue of $3.57 billion, a 31.8% decrease compared to the same period in 2025.
