Jacob Batalon, who plays Ned Leeds, shared the spontaneous origin of the signature "best friend handshake" with Tom Holland's Peter Parker. Batalon explained that he and Holland, then 19, devised the elaborate move just two minutes before filming the scene for *Spider-Man: Homecoming* back in 2017. This gesture has since become a memorable part of their characters' bond.
Interestingly, the handshake reappeared in *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, seemingly recalled by Ned through sheer "muscle memory," despite Peter Parker's identity having been magically erased from his memory in *Spider-Man: No Way Home*. Batalon noted that while he and Holland don't perform the handshake off-screen, their long-standing friendship and the act of filming it repeatedly in the initial trilogy embedded it deeply.
The film also features Ned's "Spidey Tracker" app, which was enabled by Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold. Batalon expressed his fondness for Holland and Zendaya, calling them family and commending their professionalism.
