Allegations have arisen claiming the "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" art book utilized generative AI. The controversy began when fans observed peculiar New York concept art, including distorted taxis and buildings, in the recently released book.

These claims were challenged by a Reddit user identifying as the book's layout designer. They asserted that no AI art was included in the final layout, as they received assets directly from the visual development team. The designer also noted that any freelance assets potentially created with AI were either not provided or were subsequently removed.

This individual suggested that the unusual appearance of some art, particularly a distorted taxi, might be attributed to Adobe Photoshop's long-standing fill-in tool. They elaborated that this tool, when used to repair image gaps, could lead to unexpected visual artifacts.

Furthermore, the designer stressed that both Disney and Marvel Studios maintain a strict policy against the use of generative AI, citing legal ownership issues. They clarified that any artist employing such tools does so at their own personal discretion, not as a company directive.

As of the current date, there has been no official comment from Ryan Meinerding, Marvel Studios' visual development head, or Disney regarding these allegations. Attempts to reach Meinerding for a statement were ongoing.
