Several distinct films are making waves. "Girl and Wolf" by Hampa Studio adapts a graphic novel, while "The Amalur Prophecy" by MB Producciones features Basque mythology. Director Lyona presents "The Day Ewan McGregor Introduced Me to His Parents," a hand-drawn 2D animation.
Other notable features include the Spanish-German-Irish collaboration "Flamingo Flamenco," a 3D CGI adventure-comedy, and "A la Fresca," a poignant 2D animation about rural life. "Almond Eyes" explores the complexities of romantic love for adults and young adults, and "Run, Kuru, Run!" is a family-oriented 3D feature based on a children's book series.
The Mafiz events also include discussions and workshops on Spanish animation's global market presence, featuring industry professionals and Pixar alumni.
