The highly anticipated biopic on former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, titled 'Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story,' has commenced its Kolkata schedule. Following completion of the Mumbai portion, the production has moved to the city for a 15-day shoot. Rajkummar Rao, essaying the role of 'Dada,' has been spotted filming at significant locations like the Maidan and Eden Gardens.
The film's Kolkata schedule focuses on Ganguly's formative years and cricketing beginnings. Shoots are underway at his childhood residence in Behala and the historic East Bengal Club grounds, where he first played cricket. Director Vikramaditya Motwane is aiming to infuse the film with a distinct Bengali essence, casting several local actors.
Key roles include Tanya Maniktala as Dona Ganguly, with a focus on their romantic relationship depicted through musical sequences. Aparajita Adhya and Saswata Chatterjee will play Sourav's parents. The biopic will trace Ganguly's trajectory from local hero to leading the Indian national team.
