The hills are alive once more as Lincoln Center Theater presents a new Broadway revival of The Sound of Music. Tony nominee Jasmine Amy Rogers will star as Maria in this limited 17-week engagement, directed by Lear deBessonet. Performances are slated to begin on March 23, 2027, with opening night on April 15, 2027, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. This production signifies the first time the classic musical has been staged on Broadway in approximately 30 years, since its 1998 revival. The original 1959 production won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The story follows Maria, a postulant sent to be governess for the von Trapp children on the eve of World War II, featuring timeless songs like "My Favorite Things" and "Do-Re-Mi." For Rogers, this role follows her acclaimed performance as Betty Boop in BOOP! The Musical, for which she received a Tony nomination. She is also set to appear in the Manhattan Theatre Club's revival of School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play later this season.
