Acclaimed director Eva Victor has joined the cast of Searchlight's highly anticipated film 'Behemoth!', which is being directed by Tony Gilroy. The film, which is currently in pre-production, will also star Pedro Pascal and David Harbour in undisclosed roles.
Victor is coming off the success of her feature directorial debut, 'Sorry, Baby', a dramedy that premiered to critical acclaim at this year's Sundance Film Festival. The film, which Victor wrote and starred in alongside Naomi Ackie and Lucas Hedges, won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, with the jury praising its "stunning honesty [and] moving sense of humor."
A24 acquired 'Sorry, Baby' out of Sundance in a reported $8 million deal, and the film is set to have a limited release on June 27, with ongoing expansion on July 18. In his review, Deadline's Pete Hammond called the film "one of the most assured and heartfelt" he has seen in a long time.
Prior to her breakout success with 'Sorry, Baby', Victor had established herself in the comedy sphere, achieving viral video fame and writing for publications like The New Yorker and Reductress. She has also appeared in several acting roles, most notably as Rian in the final three seasons of Showtime's 'Billions'.
Details about Victor's role in 'Behemoth!' are being kept under wraps, as is the film's logline. However, Gilroy has stated in interviews that the project revolves around a cellist. Gilroy is directing from his own script and producing the film alongside Sanne Wohlenberg and John Gilroy (Andor).
Principal photography on 'Behemoth!' is set to begin in Los Angeles later this month, with Searchlight Pictures overseeing the production.
