Aaron Sorkin is set to release "The Social Reckoning," a film exploring the consequences of whistleblower Frances Haugen's revelations concerning Facebook. Jeremy Strong, known for "Succession," portrays Mark Zuckerberg, describing the script as highly relevant to contemporary issues. Mikey Madison, an Oscar winner for "Anora," takes on the role of Haugen.
The drama is inspired by "The Facebook Files" from The Wall Street Journal, which investigated the damage caused by the social networking site and how internal findings were suppressed. The film revisits themes from "The Social Network" but is not a direct sequel. Jeremy Allen White, Wunmi Mosaku, Bill Burr, and Betty Gilpin also star.
Sorkin, who also directed, called the film a "David and Goliath story." "The Social Network," his 2010 film about Facebook's founding, was a critical success. "The Social Reckoning" is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026, with a likely premiere at a fall festival.
