In a recent interview on the "Arlene is Alone" podcast, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, 50, discussed how she is dealing with the public scrutiny surrounding her ex-husband Justin Trudeau's new relationship with pop singer Katy Perry, 41. The former Canadian prime minister and Sophie separated in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
Sophie emphasized that she is focused on her own personal growth and development following the separation. "I'm very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers," she said. "The woman I become through this is my decision." Despite the high-profile nature of their split, Sophie and Justin have maintained a solid co-parenting relationship and are committed to raising their three children together.
"I'm definitely not a single mom," Sophie insisted. "I have a partnership with a father who has such deep love and availability to his children." The former couple has chosen to prioritize their family, with Sophie stating, "Our family is our greatest creation and we're going to feed it together, no matter if we're on different life paths."
As for Justin's new relationship with Katy Perry, which was first reported in July 2023, Sophie said she is choosing to "listen to the music instead of the noise." The couple has been spotted together in various locations, including Montreal and Santa Barbara, California, and Perry even seemingly confirmed the romance during a concert in Prague.
