Song Rights Fight: Pooja Ent vs Tips Music

A significant legal battle is underway between Pooja Entertainment and Tips Music Limited concerning the use of songs from 'Biwi No 1' in the forthcoming film 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.' The core of the disagreement centers on the popular track 'Chunari Chunari.'

Tips Music asserts its complete and legal ownership of the song's copyrights, referencing an order of relief granted by the Supreme Court of India on May 22, 2026. They maintain that Pooja Entertainment's allegations are contested and that all legal steps have been appropriately taken.

Conversely, Pooja Entertainment's legal counsel stated that the Supreme Court order was secured without their prior notification. Consequently, they are preparing to file an application to vacate the order, arguing it was obtained without presenting the full facts to the court.

Producer Vashu Bhagnani, head of Pooja Entertainment, views this as a broader issue for film producers, highlighting traditional rights divisions in the industry. He claims that renegotiations for digital video rights, which he believes belong to producers, have been contentious.
