- Nearby flats bought for Rs 51 crore caused neighbour concerns.

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's 200-year-old mansion in London's Notting Hill has become the subject of a heated dispute with neighbouring residents. The couple acquired the property for approximately Rs 270 crore three years ago. Their ambitious renovation proposal includes retaining only the exterior walls while adding a basement swimming pool and a subterranean basketball court.
Despite initial planning disputes, the renovation plans were approved recently. However, tensions have intensified following the purchase of five flats in a neighbouring building for around Rs 51 crore by a company associated with the couple. Residents expressed concerns that these flats might be used for staff, potentially altering the neighborhood's character.
Sonam Kapoor's representatives stated she had no direct involvement with the company that bought the flats, asserting they were acquired purely for investment. Nevertheless, some residents reported feeling intimidated and feared speaking out against the influential couple, expressing worries about the impact on their community.
