Sonali Bendre Transforms Entertainment Industry, Finds Joy in Creative Satisfaction
9 Oct, 2025
Summary
- Navigated single-screen era to OTT boom
- All-women team on set, women in key roles
- Health not a limitation, focused on creative fulfillment

In the past decade, the entertainment industry has undergone a significant transformation, and actress Sonali Bendre has been at the forefront of this change. As of October 2025, Bendre continues to stay busy with a variety of projects, including OTT shows, books, and podcasts, driven by her passion for creative fulfillment.
Reflecting on the industry's evolution, Bendre notes that the rise of multiplexes and the OTT boom have enabled the telling of smaller, more diverse stories. "When multiplexes came in, things changed. You could tell smaller stories. That's when the boom began. Now, with more mediums available, it helps further," she explains.
One of the most notable shifts Bendre has witnessed is the changing dynamics on set. "When I was working earlier, the only other woman on set was the hairdresser. Now, my team is all-women. I see women in direction, writing, camera, setting... and they are choosing this as a career. That, I think, is amazing," she adds.
Despite being diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2018, Bendre emphasizes that her health is not a limitation when it comes to her work. "I am absolutely fine. The only filter now is joy and creative satisfaction," she says. This year has been particularly busy for her, with the launch of a book, the completion of an OTT show, the start of a podcast, and the hosting of a TV show.
