Songwriters of North America (SONA) is set to host its annual SONA Awards and SONA Awards Week in October. This year's honorees include Annie Lennox for the Artist Songwriter Award, Tom Morello for the Freedom of Expression Warrior Award, and Desmond Child for the Songwriter Warrior Award. Laurent Hubert will receive Executive of the Year, and the writers of the K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack will be recognized with the Global Impact Award.
The awards ceremony, formerly known as the SONA Warrior Awards, is scheduled for October 29 at the Skirball Cultural Center. Bonnie McKee and Shane Stevens will host the event. The organization, founded in 2015 to advocate for U.S. songwriters' interests, uses this event to honor artists and allies who champion songwriters. This year, the community-voted Emerging Songwriter Award recipients will also be announced live.
Leading up to the awards, SONA will host its Songwriters Summit, an all-day series of panels, on October 28 at Village Studios in Hollywood. The summit will feature a keynote conversation with Laurent Hubert. Tickets for the SONA Awards are currently on sale, with all proceeds benefiting SONA's ongoing work.
